About

The thoughts of harming yourself are a hard thing for a lot of people to comprehend. I bet there was at least one person that dismissed you… called you attention seeking… said you had no good reason to feel the way you do… maybe even said no one would miss you if you were gone. Those people are assholes. No one starts cutting or thinking about suicide without a good reason, and no one that hasn’t been there will ever understand just how hard it is to hold on sometimes, even for one more day. Some of these people may have been therapists. Unfortunately not everyone is qualified to work with everyone who needs help, and people can end up with treatment that it ineffective, hurtful, or so generalized you don’t feel that anyone is interested in helping YOU. At Inverted Dawn, our goal is to enter your journey with you, and create a personalized plan that will bring you back to a stronger, more sustainable place. While everyone has unique needs, we’ll start with a few places most people struggle, and build your plan based on your personal needs, wants, and goals. These include: Harm-Reduction and Safety Planning Therapy doesn’t work right away. The first thing we’ll do is come up with a plan to make sure that you stay safe while beginning treatment. Emotional Vocabulary We all struggle with communicating complex feelings and emotions. For most people, this is where the trouble really starts. From difficulty expressing yourself to negative self-talk, this is often where a bad day can become a huge problem. Identifying Strengths and Skills All people already have the skills to address the difficulties they face. I’ll help you identify yours, so that you can use the things you are already good at, instead of learning some therapy protocol that seems like it was written for someone else. If you’re on the fence about getting help, feel free to reach out an request a check in. I’m more than happy to chat with people for a little bit so that they can have all the information that they need to make a decision that feels comfortable and safe.
